AEW star and one half of FTR Dax Harwood has compared the team’s rivalry with the Briscoes to Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair.
The two teams competed in a trilogy of extremely well received matches across three Ring Of Honor pay-per-views in 2022.
Harwood & Wheeler defeated Mark & Jay Briscoe for the ROH Tag Team Championship at Supercard of Honor in April. FTR defended the gold against The Briscoes in a 2/3 falls bout at Death Before Dishonor in July.
FTR ultimately dropped the gold to the brothers at Final Battle in December, losing the double dog collar title bout.
Speaking on the FTR with Dax Harwood podcast, Harwood drew a comparison between the trilogy and that of Steamboat and Flair:
“I wouldn’t mind if it goes down as the greatest in-ring trilogy of all time. I understand that there is Steamboat and Flair and that’s a hard bar to measure up, but I would like for that to be it.
“I would like for it to go down as the three greatest tag team matches of all time and I know that’s a hard bar to beat too.”
Steamboat and Flair had a legendary feud in 1989 that saw the two compete in one televised match and two pay-per-view matches.
