Shayna Baszler has opened up about her partnership with former WWE star Nia Jax (Lina Fanene), noting that she helped her out a lot backstage.
Baszler and Jax first formed a team in 2020, with the duo winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship that August.
This pairing held the gold for a second time the following year, winning the title back in January 2021.
Speaking with Ring The Belle, Baszler noted that Jax helped her find her way following her NXT call-up.
Discussing her relationship with the former WWE star, Baszler said:
“I had a lot of fun teaming up with Nia. She really helped me out when I didn’t know anyone. I had just come up here.
“We decided to team up, and she actually really helped me out a lot behind the scenes, too, like ‘knowing the ropes,’ as they say.
“I enjoyed it because I did get to show a different side of me that I didn’t get to really show in NXT.”
Jax was let go by WWE in November 2021, but has since wrestled in the 2023 Royal Rumble.
Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey recently made their returns to WWE TV to target Women’s Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez.
