A spoiler has emerged on a “promotional video” set to build hype for Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 40.
Reigns and Rhodes will face off in their second straight WrestleMania main event this year, with the American Nightmare winning the Royal Rumble match to earn another shot at the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a script exists for a promo video for this match which paints Rhodes as a “Rocky” style underdog according to one source who got the script to do voiceover work.
Meltzer wrote:
There is a script for a Reigns vs. Rhodes promotional video to build up WrestleMania, which tied Rhodes into Philadelphia, with the concept being here in Philadelphia we know the American Dream and we know the American Nightmare, we know good times and hard times and that being an underdog isn’t something to be feared, it’s something to be embraced.
One person got a script for a VO and noted that Rhodes in the script is going to be pushed as a Philadelphia style Rocky underdog
Rhodes and Reigns will both be pulling double duty at the two night event, with Roman Reigns and The Rock vs Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins also confirmed for WrestleMania 40.
A ‘finalist’ for the location for WrestleMania 41 next year has been revealed, which you can read more about right here.
