A backstage report has revealed that an internal change has been made to a recently returned WWE tag team.
According to Fightful Select, the Authors of Pain have had an official internal name change from their first spell in WWE.
The report reveals that Akam & Rezar are now internally listed as ‘Authors of Pain’, which is a change from their first run in the company where they were instead listed as ‘AOP’.
On this week’s SmackDown, the feud between The Final Testament and The Pride continued as both the Authors of Pain and the Street Profits looked to secure a spot in the six team Undisputed Tag Team Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 40.
Despite previously defeating Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford in a match in February, it was The Profits who picked up the win this time around.
As Fightful Select also noted, this was the Authors of Pain’s first traditional tag team loss since all the way back in November 2018, where they lost to Chad Gable and Bobby Roode.
Obviously Akam & Rezar were away from WWE for four years after being released in 2020, however, this is still a notable statistic and feather in the cap for the Street Profits.
In other interesting backstage news from the March 22 edition of SmackDown, an active WWE talent has been revealed to be performing a surprising new role in the company – for full details click here.
