20 More Names Who Should Be In The WWE Hall Of Fame

8. The Destroyer

WWE Tenure: The Destroyer never actually worked for WWE

Notable Accomplishments: Inducting Gorgeous George into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010

The Destroyer (real name Dick Beyer) appeared on WWE TV for the first and only time in 2010 when he inducted Gorgeous George into the WWE Hall of Fame. However, Destroyer’s impact can be seen throughout the WWE even to this day. The 88-year-old was a technically sound worker but his greatest feat was being the first American wrestler to transition into Japan. He put on classic matches with Rikidozan and was held in high regard in Japan.

Many people believe it was Beyer who paved the way for foreign talent to move to Japan to perfect on their craft, superstars like AJ Styles and Finn Balor can thank Beyer for his work. Whilst he never even wrestled for the WWE, it cannot be denied that The Destroyer really changed the wrestling landscape and his legacy is still seen to this day. As such he should be rewarded with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

7. Brian Pillman

WWE Tenure: 1996-1997 (Wrestler)

Notable Accomplishments: 2x WCW Light Heavyweight Championship and 1x WCW Tag Team Championship

Brian Pillman was a high-flyer who captivated audiences with innovative offence. However, the best thing about Pillman was that he made wrestling feel real. He was such a psychotic heel that audiences questioned if what they were seeing was real rather than scripted and this was the magic of Pillman. Pillman suffered injuries before he actually stepped foot in a WWE ring which meant his best work was outside the promotion, but the image of him holding a gun on Raw was one of the most interesting and shocking moments of all time. His character work was so good that the late Pillman deserves an induction. He made fans believe what they were seeing was real, and that is just as important as having fantastic matches, which Pillman was certainly capable of.

6. Kevin Dunn

WWE Tenure: 1984-Present (Executive Producer), 2003-Present (Executive Vice President, Television Production) and 2008-Present (WWE Board of Directors)

Notable Accomplishments: Being an integral part of bringing the idea of ‘WrestleMania’ to fruition

Who? Well for those of you who don’t know, Kevin Dunn is one of the most important cogs in the WWE machine. He is in charge of everything that WWE puts out to its audience. Although he is often the butt of jokes and does make decisions that some of us question, it is undeniable that WWE has the best production values of any wrestling company in the world. When you look at the spectacle that is WrestleMania, you cannot deny it is fantastic, and that is down to Dunn. Whilst Dunn has not been an on-screen personality, he has been integral the success and longevity of WWE’s programming for 25 years now, and for that reason, he is deserving of an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

5. The British Bulldog

WWE Tenure: 1984-1988, 1990-1992, 1994-1997, 1999-2000 (Wrestler)

Notable Accomplishments: 1x Intercontinental Championship, 2x European Championship, 2x Hardcore Championship and 2x WWE Tag Team Championship

It is undeniable, whether you are British or not, that seeing Davey Boy Smith pin Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1992 inside Wembley Stadium to capture the Intercontinental Championship was an emotional moment. Whilst he and his tag team partner Dynamite Kid were great as a tag team, The British Bulldog has a more successful singles career in terms of accolades. He was agile yet explosive, athletic yet powerful, and whilst he might not have won the most championships out of anyone on this list, he was always consistent. His match with Bret Hart was voted as ‘Match of the Year’ by PWI in 1992.

Bret Hart said ”I’m embarrassed that the WWE Hall of Fame does not include Owen Hart or British Bulldog”. Bret is not being biased due to his relations to the pair, he is right. The WWE Hall of Fame features many who did not perform at the level of the British Bulldog and he deserves a place amongst in the Hall.
