Earlier today, Cody Rhodes confirmed that he recently signed a new five-year contract with WWE, with him set to remain with the company for the long term.

Cody has already accomplished a lot during his return run since 2022, but there are still a lot of open doors for the American Nightmare to walk through over the next five years.

Here are some potential first-time Cody Rhodes WWE plans following his five-year extension.

United States Championship win

When Cody Rhodes returned to WWE, he did so with the hopes of finishing his story and finally bringing the WWE Championship to the Rhodes Family.

With the WWE Championship now in his resume, Cody is now just one title win away from achieving the Grand Slam, that being the very fitting United States Championship.

Given the fitting nature of the title and the fact that Cody will now seemingly retire in WWE, we will more than likely see a late career US Title win for the American Nightmare.

Heel turn

In recent months, the idea of Cody Rhodes potentially turning heel has seemed more and more likely in his ongoing rivalry with Randy Orton.

Fan reactions to Cody are a lot tamer than they have been in the past, and with some new babyface stars on the rise, WWE now has some potential future stars to rely upon should they opt to turn Cody heel.

To avoid a similar situation to John Cena’s heel turn though, WWE must have a plan if they do pull the trigger, as a major moment like that can’t simply be wasted to create a ‘viral moment’.

Formation of new stable

During his time in AEW, Cody Rhodes had attempted to form his own faction with the ‘Nightmare Factory’, though it didn’t achieve a lot of success or fanfare.

Cody’s WWE tenure is heavily tied to his time in Legacy, and if Cody does end up turning heel, then he could form a modern version of the group, potentially featuring current members of the Birthright stable.

Alternatively, Cody has a lot of people in the company now he has history with, including Ricky Saints, Ethan Page and Jade Cargill, that could form something of an ‘Elite’ alliance.
