2. WWE United States Championship Triple Threat – Randy Orton (c) vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jinder Mahal
Leaving the WWE United States Championship off the main card would significantly damage the prestige of a belt that has recently been held by the likes of AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and now Randy Orton. Similar to the way in which Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin’s WWE Intercontinental Championship bout was surprisingly demoted to the Pre-Show last year, I believe this will be another last-minute decision where there are simply more important matches to showcase in a bigger light.
When you look at the rest of the card, the Usos have been actively campaigning for their spot at ‘Mania and it seems like they will finally get their wish with a match against the Bludgeon Brothers and the New Day looking likely. Braun Strowman definitely isn’t going to miss out like last year so it looks like that this is the match to cut. It will seem very surreal if Randy Orton doesn’t make the main show as he has been a mainstay on the event for over a decade now but it looks like this will be the first time in a while – not counting his absence due to injury at WrestleMania 32 – that we won’t see an RKO ‘Outta Nowhere’ on the big stage.
