On last night’s episode of WWE AAA on FOX, we saw AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio officially vacate the Latin American Championship.

Former champion El Hijo del Vikingo suffered an injury last Tuesday, when he was injured in preparation for his match with EK Prosper on NXT, which ended up being cancelled due to the injury.

With the title now vacant, opportunity now arises for other members of the roster to become champion.

Here are some potential WWE AAA stars we could see become the next Latin American Champion.

Omos

During the segment vacating the championship on last night’s show, Dorian Roldan initially planned to keep the title within El Ojo, announcing Omos as the new Latin American Champion.

However, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio would confront Omos, with him forcing him to hand over the title so it could be officially vacated.

Omos has served as the muscle of Vikingo during his time in AAA, and if the company wants to keep the title within El Ojo, it would make sense to crown him the new champion regardless.

Omos holding the belt sets up the perfect chance for an underdog to eventually unseat him.

Damian Priest

On the July 4 episode of AAA, former World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest made his debut for the promotion, with him saying he hopes to take over the company.

After Rey Mysterio announced the title’s vacancy on last night’s show, Priest would appear in a video stating his claim to the title.

Putting the title on Priest would be great to get exposure on the belt just like the AAA Mega and AAA Cruiserweight Championships held by Dominik Mysterio and Rey Fenix respectively, with Priest being featured weekly on WWE SmackDown.

Priest also has his eyes on the AAA Tag Team Championship alongside R-Truth, so he could hold multiple titles in the promotion soon.

Gelano Del Mal

One of the newer emerging faces on the AAA roster in recent months is the powerhouse luchadore Galeno Del Mal, or simply Galeno.

Galeno, the real-life brother of El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr, has been picking up victories in squash handicap matches in recent weeks, and has been teasing a showdown with Omos.

With Wagner III reigning as the champion prior to Vikingo, it would be a nice moment for his brother to also get a run with the belt.

The eventual clash between he and Omos would have added stakes with the title on the line.

Axiom

On the June 12 episode of SmackDown, Rey Fenix would defend the AAA Cruiserweight Championship on main roster television, defeating Axiom.

Axiom has made several appearances for AAA prior to his title match with Fenix, with him making a seamless addition to the roster.

Should WWE call upon main roster stars to appear on AAA to fill the hole left by Vikingo’s injury, Axiom would make a great choice given he is currently not doing much on SmackDown.

Daga

On the June 20 episode of AAA, El Grande Americano was jumped by five wrestlers, who would later reveal themselves as the revived edition of Los Perros del Mal.

The group features Los Garza, Karmen Petrovic, Bronco Nima and Daga, who made his return to AAA to be part of the group, and have immediately taken over the show.

With Los Garza likely to set their sights on the Tag Team Championship, and Daga taking up the leadership role in the group, he would make a safe choice to hand the Latin American Championship to immediately give the group credibility.

Laredo Kid

Since WWE’s takeover of AAA, Hijo del Vikingo has become one of the most hated heels in all of AAA, with his title victory far from a popular decision from the fans at Noche de Los Grandes.

Another AAA star who recently turned to the dark side is Laredo Kid, who turned during his rivalry with Rey Fenix for the Cruiserweight Championship.

With one heel champion down with injury, subbing in Laredo Kid would be a simple replacement for the Latin American Championship.
