Following the events of AEW All In London 2026, the company’s tag team division has garnered a major spotlight.
With several duos jockeying for position, there could be any number of duos who might be the ones to dethrone Cage and Cope for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Here are six potential options to be the next AEW World Tag Team Champions after Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)
At AEW All In London 2026, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage defeated The Young Bucks to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
This victory came as a result of Cage cheating by using a wrench to retain the titles.
Due to the nature of this win, Cope has granted The Bucks another shot in a Three-Way Ladder Match for the gold at AEW All Out 2026.
This feels like Matt and Nick Jackson’s final opportunity at becoming a record-breaking four-time AEW World Tag Team Champions and gives them the best chance to regain their place at the top of the tag scene.
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
FTR have made their way back to All Elite Wrestling following AEW All In London 2026.
Immediately putting themselves in position to get a rematch for the AEW World Tag Team Championships, FTR have inserted themselves into a top spot in the company.
Now at AEW All Out 2026, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage will defend the titles against FTR and The Young Bucks in a Three-Way Ladder Match.
Wanting to set the record as the most decorated AEW World Tag Team Champions, FTR have a strong chance to walk out of Chicago as four-time titleholders.
Kyle Fletcher & Kevin Knight
At the AEW Rebel Heart Dynamite episode, Don Callis Family‘s Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight defeated The Young Bucks in a Tables Match.
This followed their initial victory as a duo over the Bang Bang Gang on the September 5 AEW Collision.
Despite their differences and tension, Knight and Fletcher have made for a formidable pairing.
Following their win against The Bucks, Fletcher and Knight have positioned themselves as potential candidates to become the next AEW World Tag Team Champions.
Darby Allin & Steven Borden
Another new tandem that picked up a big win on the AEW Rebel Heart Dynamite special was Darby Allin and Steven Borden.
In what is a full circle moment, Borden has made his in-ring debut alongside his father Sting’s former tag team partner Allin to pick up a win over Don Callis Family’s Josh Alexander and Mark Davis.
It is clear to see that the AEW fanbase have already embraced Borden and this duo could match the success of his father’s pairing with Allin.
Borden and Darby going after the AEW World Tag Team Champions could prove to be a magical moment that plays off their individual relationships with “The Stinger.”
The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)
On the July 30 edition of AEW Collision, The Motor City Machine Guns made their official debut with the company.
After several weeks away following their arrival, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley reemerged to insert themselves in the AEW tag team mix at All In London 2026.
Then on the September 5 episode of Collision, The Guns picked up their first victory over The Swirl in their in-ring debut.
The Motor City Machine Guns eventually dethroning Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for the AEW World Tag Team Titles would be fitting and put this iconic duo in the illustrious lineage of these championships.
The New Level (Kofi & Austin Creed)
Another legendary tag team that recently arrived in All Elite Wrestling are The New Level.
Kofi and Austin Creed made their debut with the promotion by teaming with Swerve Strickland to win the Trios Roulette Royale and become the new AEW World Trios Champions at All In London 2026.
Later in the same show, The New Level joined FTR and The Motor City Machine Guns in confronting The Young Bucks and AEW World Tag Team Champions Cope and Cage.
While they are focused on trios competition, The New Level could be biding their time before adding the AEW World Tag Team Champions to their historic list of accolades.
