WWE
Ever since winning the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 42, Trick Williams has proven himself to be one of the most popular and prominent stars on Friday Night SmackDown.
It feels like WWE will continue to place Williams right in the spotlight in a major way moving forward.
Whether it be against former and current rivals or new opponents, it should be very intriguing to see who will be next up for Trick now that he has one successful defense under his belt.
Here are seven potential WWE United States Championship opponents for Trick Williams.
7. Sami Zayn

Trick Williams retained the United States Championship against Sami Zayn at WWE Backlash after winning the title from Zayn at WrestleMania 42
At WWE WrestleMania 42 night two, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to win the United States Championship.
Then in a rematch at WWE Backlash 2026, Williams once again picked up a win over Zayn to retain the title.
Despite these two straight wins over the former champion, Trick might still have to deal with Sami for a bit longer.
Considering it was due to a distraction from Lil Yachty, Zayn might feel like he still has unfinished business with Williams and want one more opportunity at the US Title sooner rather than later.
6. The Miz

The Miz is looking to mentor young WWE talent and pass on what he learned from the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton
The Miz is one of the most decorated stars on the WWE roster today despite his recent string of bad luck courtesy of Danhausen.
Looking to move past his issues with Danhausen, ‘The A Lister’ could try to focus on a new goal.
After teasing a showdown for the gold following WrestleMania 42, The Miz could be next to step up to Trick Williams.
The Miz wanting to become a three-time United States Champion could be a tough test for Trick at this stage of his current reign.
5. Royce Keys

Royce Keys is undefeated on WWE SmackDown since his debut
On the April 17 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Royce Keys won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
The former Powerhouse Hobbs has become one of the most featured stars on the blue brand since making his debut as a member of the roster a few weeks ago.
After going undefeated on SmackDown as of late, this might put Keys in line for a shot at championship gold.
In a first time meeting, Keys could challenge Trick Williams for the United States Championship next, whether it be on SmackDown or at the next PLE.
4. Solo Sikoa

Solo Sikoa recently lost two members of his MFT faction as JC Mateo and Tonga Loa were released by WWE
Someone who is no stranger to championship gold and the United States Title specifically is Solo Sikoa.
In 2025, Sikoa became the first man to score a pinfall victory over Jacob Fatu to become the United States Champion for the first time.
Since losing the gold to Sami Zayn, Sikoa hasn’t been able to get his hands on the title.
Sikoa challenging Trick Williams would be interesting and continue his quest to bring championship gold back to The MFTs on SmackDown.
3. Ilja Dragunov

Ilja Dragunov is a former NXT UK, NXT and WWE United States Champion
Returning from injury in October 2025, Ilja Dragunov immediately made an impact by winning the United States Championship.
Adopting the US Open Challenge reintroduced by Sami Zayn, Dragunov proved himself to be a fighting champion by defending week after week against whomever decided to step up to the plate.
‘The Mad Dragon’ firmly reestablished himself as an intense competitor who could stand toe-to-toe to anyone on the WWE roster.
After weeks off of WWE television, it might be time for Dragunov to be the next opponent for Trick Williams and attempt to become a two-time US Champion.
2. Carmelo Hayes

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams have history as partners and then rivals in NXT
Another former United States Champion who could be the next opponent for Trick Williams is Carmelo Hayes.
On the March 27 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Sami Zayn defeated Hayes to win the US Title and went on to defend the gold against Williams at WrestleMania 42.
Since his title rematch on the April 3 SmackDown, Hayes hasn’t been in action on WWE TV and could make his return to get back into contention for the gold.
Melo returning and going right after his former best friend Trick Williams would make for a highly compelling battle between the two and might be a threat to his reign that he cannot overcome.
Ricky Saints

Ricky Saints made his WWE SmackDown debut against Cody Rhodes – just like he made his AEW debut
On the May 1 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Ricky Saints made his official main roster debut and confronted Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
Showing absolutely no fear of anyone, Saints pushed Rhodes to his limit in his first match on the blue brand.
After his first win over Matt Cardona on the May 8 SmackDown, fans could see Ricky trying to go after championship gold next.
With his history with Trick Williams from their time in WWE NXT, Saints could be the perfect next opponent for the United States Championship to continue to solidify himself on SmackDown.
