WWE
Since 2020, Wade Barrett has served as a WWE commentator on Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown and NXT.
Barrett was an active in-ring competitor for years and could still have the need to step inside the squared circle.
Making an in-ring return after years since his last match, there are plenty of options for Barrett to face if he decides to lace up the boots yet again.
Here are eight potential Wade Barrett WWE return opponents.
8. Roman Reigns

Wade Barrett had already cemented himself as one of the most prominently featured stars in WWE by the time Roman Reigns made his debut alongside The Shield.
While they did not cross paths a lot during his in-ring days, Barrett and Reigns are not going to be strangers to one another if they face off with one another.
Having served as a WWE commentator for the past six years, the former five-time Intercontinental Champion has seen the entire run of The Bloodline with Reigns at the helm.
Witnessing his takeover of WWE, Barrett will know every trick in the book to give himself an edge against “The OTC” if he happens to be his return opponent.
7. The Miz

Someone on the WWE roster that Wade Barrett knows very well as an opponent and rival is The Miz.
“The A Lister” has been one of WWE’s most reliable and dependable performers on the roster for years.
With a 20-year run with the company, The Miz is among the most tenured members of the roster and has plenty of history with Barrett.
Considering their past trading the WWE Intercontinental Championship, there may be no one better suited to face Barrett as his return opponent than The Miz.
6. LA Knight

LA Knight is once again on the rise after having the likes of The Bloodline and The Vision get in the way of his ascent to the top of WWE.
“The Megastar” has a lot of fans within the company over the past few years, but no one has been more vocal than Barrett as of late.
The five-time WWE Intercontinental Champion has shown his support for Knight time and time again as a commentator.
Having Barrett turn on Knight would be fitting and create a rivalry that has some substance to it moving forward.
5. CM Punk

Another WWE star who was around during Wade Barrett’s in-ring days is CM Punk.
Back in 2011, “The Best In The World” usurped Barrett as the leader of the Nexus and even faced off with him on a few occasions.
Now all these years later, Barrett could view Punk as his way to once again make an impact as an in-ring competitor.
Barrett attacking Punk would be interesting and set the stage for a rekindling of their rivalry from 15 years ago.
4. Seth Rollins

Looking at the WWE roster, there might not be anyone better prepared to be the opponent for a returning star like Seth Rollins.
Widely regarded as one of the best and most complete in-ring workers in the company, Rollins should be depended on to deliver inside the squared circle.
“The Visionary” is someone else who has been counted on to deliver in the ring every time out.
Barrett returning to the squared circle to face Rollins would guarantee the quality of what he can deliver as an in-ring competitor.
3. Randy Orton

Another old rival of Wade Barrett that is still on the WWE roster today is Randy Orton.
Back in 2010 through 2012, Barrett and Orton clashed on several different occasions whether it be on the WWE Championship or grudge matches.
“The Legend Killer” attacking Barrett upon his return for the first time since WrestleMania 42 would be very intriguing and open the door for the commentator to lace up the boots again.
Barrett challenging Orton would reignite tensions between these former rivals and create a more personal rivalry than they had years earlier.
2. GUNTHER

GUNTHER has earned the reputation of “The Career Killer” after defeating John Cena, Goldberg and AJ Styles in their final matches.
If an older WWE star is looking to return to in-ring competition, it should be GUNTHER waiting for them.
In the past, GUNTHER has had some tense confrontations with non-wrestlers in WWE, which has included other commentators like Pat McAfee and Michael Cole.
Barrett stepping back in the ring could see the former five-time WWE Intercontinental Champion step up to “The Ring General” in a meaningful way.
1. Drew McIntyre

There is absolutely no one on the WWE roster today who knows Wade Barrett as well and as long as Drew McIntyre.
Dating back to their early days as pro wrestlers, Barrett and McIntyre created a bond based on their mutual journeys.
This friendship has lasted decades and has been referenced on several occasions by Barrett when on commentary during McIntyre’s matches.
McIntyre turning on his friend might just prove to be one of the most compelling stories possible for Barrett to make his in-ring return for.
