WWE
Starting in NXT before moving to the main WWE roster, Je’Von Evans has reflected on the difference between Shawn Michaels and Triple H.
Shawn Michaels has overseen NXT since September 2021 and currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative.
Triple H is no stranger to being the man in charge of NXT, having been instrumental in the development of the brand, with his current focus being on his Chief Content Officer role.
Currently assigned to Raw, Je’Von Evans is well equipped to compare the leadership of Michaels and Triple H, a topic he would discuss on ROAR Around the Ring.
Evans would reflect upon the speed of NXT under Michaels, contrasting it to the pace of the main roster offerings led by Triple H, saying:
“With Shawn, he loves the quickness. Once you have the crowd, once you have their emotion and reaction, you want to keep them there. I feel like Shawn, he really helps us out with that at NXT.
“If the crowd is up here , you don’t want to bring them down to bring them back up. You want to keep them up there. So, that’s why, like sometimes in NXT, we go so fast, you know.
“Then, with Uncle H, I feel like it’s more like storytelling, more like drawing out… because we’re wrestling in front of so many people, you can’t go as fast as we do in NXT, because everybody in the rafters won’t be able to catch up and react to what we just did.
“You want to have time for people in the crowd to chill and react and be ‘all right, okay, okay, what’s next?'”

When it comes to the change of pace that comes with being a main roster star, Evans was asked if he found it a challenge to slow down to tell the story, responding:
“No, not really, because I feel I already knew what it was coming into it.
“I feel like I was ahead of the game, and I did my studying. I was just prepared for it, you know.
“I’m still learning how to now. I’m still learning how to slow down and when it’s the appropriate time to speed up or the appropriate time to react.”

Evans was called up to the main roster on the January 5 episode of WWE Raw which marked the first anniversary of the Netflix debut.

The End-To-End Development Process
Whether it’s a future star joining with no wrestling background through the NIL program, independent talent signed through WWE ID or tryouts or a talent joining the company from another main outlet, WWE has a throughline to create the compete package.
As a seasoned veteran before signing with WWE, Finn Balor may have questioned his time in the Performance Center during his early years, but the intent was clear: to create a valuable asset that could perform at the level required to succeed.
Going beyond the training mechanisms, performing in front of a live audience is another way for stars to test their mettle and for the higher-ups to see that investment pay off. As much as going straight to NXT, Raw or SmackDown may seem like the way to do this, untelevised house shows play their part, allowing up-and-coming stars to refine their work before the cameras catch sight of them. Getting “more reps” is a key component for the success that builds future stars.
Even for established stars, house shows have demonstrated their value over and over, being far less intense compared to Raw or SmackDown while still allowing them to showcase their talents in front of an appreciative live fanbase, without the restrictions of television time.
For many stars, it doesn’t stop with that Raw or SmackDown debut, either. Social media is replete with footage of many top stars training on a regular basis, knowing that they need to keep themselves not only in good shape but ready to deliver in the ring.
