WWE Money in the Bank escalating hostility, title changes and turns

WWE Money in the Bank approaches, and outside of the ladder matches, fans could see title changes, increased hostility and more.

Alongside the men’s and women’s ladder matches (predictions for those right here), there are three other matches on the card, with two titles on the line.

Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will open the show, as confirmed on WWE SmackDown, on a card that also sees Stephanie Vaquer defend the Women’s World Championship in a Triple Threat match.

When it comes to the outcomes, it’s the story around them that may be just as interesting as the result:

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Much was recently made of Roman Reigns being announced for WWE Crown Jewel on November 7, with the prevailing belief among fans being that he will retain the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight.

With the match opening the show, the men’s Money in the Bank briefcase won’t play a part in the outcome of the match, although The 946 may do, having led a campaign against The Bloodline, with Royce Keys making it clear that he is after the “grand prize”.

LA Knight has previously criticized Roman Reigns for not being able to get the job done without The Bloodline and made his thoughts on his opponent quite clear this week on Raw, leaving the champion in a difficult position when it comes to backup against The 946, should they appear during his match.

Keys, Bronco Nima, Lucien Price and Jaida Parker could make their next play at Money in the Bank, leading to a victory by disqualification for LA Knight that would leave The OTC as World Heavyweight Champion.

WWE Women’s World Championship

Stephanie Vaquer defends the WWE Women’s Championship against Liv Morgan and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat match.

For Lynch, she is a five-time (and inaugural) Women’s World Champion, while Morgan has held the title three times, with Vaquer in her second reign. All three are fiery competitors, with their eyes firmly on the title from very different angles.

When it comes to the match, there is the possibily that Vaquer will just sit back and watch Morgan and Lynch tear into ear other, but La Primera has more than enough fight in her to level both competitors.

That said, with Roxanne Perez in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, the possibility that she could be victorious would set up a potential match and Bloodline rivalry with the new Women’s World Champion, Liv Morgan.

Oba Femi vs. Bronson Reed

The only match on the card that doesn’t have title implications, Oba Femi and Bronson Reed go head-to-head in a battle of the heavyweights.

Femi vs. Bron Breakker at Sunday Night’s Main Event in September didn’t settle the “future of WWE” narrative that Paul Heyman put forward. In the wake of that match, and having seen Femi end the in-ring career of Brock Lesnar, Heyman has been “humbled” by the imposing star. Heyman may no longer be directly involved with The Vision, but Reed and Breakker have both engaged with his analysis over recent weeks.

There’s a strong likelihood that Breakker, or The Vision, will get involved in the match, much to Reed’s chagrin, leading to dissent in the faction’s ranks. Reed demanding The Vision keep their nose out of his business would be an ideal way of setting the standard for his own direction, avoiding another DQ win against the faction for Femi.

The road to Survivor Series: WarGames

With Survivor Series: WarGames set for November 28, the Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight match could have implications for what happens at Daikin Park in Houston.

Roman Reigns has been advertised for the upcoming WWE PLE, with it being likely that The Bloodline will face The 946 in the men’s WarGames match, potentially with LA Knight siding with the Royce Keys-led faction in his ongoing quest to defeat The OTC.
