WWE PLEs Moving To Two Nights

With WrestleMania and SummerSlam now both two-night WWE Premium Live Events, more could follow suit in the coming years.

In comments made back in 2024, TKO CEO Mark Shapiro called two-night WWE PLEs “a natural evolution” when asked if other events could follow suit.

As it currently stands, WrestleMania 43 is the only PLE announced so far for 2027 that will be a two-night event, although more could join the April PLE as details emerge.

Royal Rumble

The first major PLE of the calendar year, Royal Rumble has previously been the subject of discussion when it comes to a two-night expansion.

It’d be an easy event to see going to two nights, with each being main evented by either the men’s or women’s Royal Rumble match, increasing the number of other matches accordingly.

As for 2027, Royal Rumble is set to take place in February on an as-yet-unconfirmed date at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Elimination Chamber

Another PLE that sees a signature match for the men’s and women’s roster, Elimination Chamber is yet to be confirmed for 2027.

As with the Royal Rumble, each night could be main evented by the men’s and women’s Elimination Chamber match. This year’s event opened with the women’s match, closed with the men’s and saw two singles matches take place in between. Two nights, of course, would allow an increase in the number of matches.

Night of Champions/Crown Jewel

Is there an appetite for a two-night PLE in Saudi Arabia? WWE will find out in April when WrestleMania 43 becomes the first key PLE to take place in the region, and the first two-night Saudi Arabia show.

With WWE in a multi-year deal with Saudi Arabia, Night of Champions is likely to return in the near future, although Crown Jewel takes place in November during Riyadh Season, a high-profile time for tourism that could be a good fit for a two-night event.

Survivor Series: WarGames

Yet another WWE PLE that could adopt the titular men’s and women’s match as the main event for Night 1 and Night 2, Survivor Series: WarGames returns for a fifth time on November 28 this year.

Last year’s event kicked off with the women’s WarGames match, with the Intercontinental Championship and Women’s World Championship being defended in the next two, before closing with the men’s WarGames match.

Once again, two nights would allow at least two more matches to be added to the card, with the WarGames matches being the high-stakes affairs that they are in the main event slots.

It’s All About The Money

In the run-up to SummerSlam this year, a “lack of ticket sales… (was) a hot topic within (WWE)” according to WrestleVotes. After the event, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter would report that Night 1 saw 35,654 tickets sold, with Night 2 having 33,719.

No doubt both WWE and TKO are hoping that every PLE does bumper numbers, particularly after past years have seen record sales for PLEs, yet this must be a moment of reflection for those in the business.

Saturating the schedule with two-night PLEs would be a bold move, although such a move for the rest of the “big five” could be one worth exploring, at least in the short term.
