New hosts for WWE Radio, including a recently retired top star

With SiriusXM being the home of WWE Radio, there is an opportunity to expand the audio offering to include the voices of current stars.

WWE Radio was announced in July of this year, with a press release describing:

“New 24/7 channel to feature live broadcasts of WWE Premium Live Events, SiriusXM’s acclaimed programming including “Busted Open” and other popular shows; plus podcasts from Cody Rhodes, Steph McMahon, The Undertaker, and more.”

The 24/7 nature of the channel offers an ideal opportunity to add more stars to the lineup, bringing unique content to the platform:

The Miz & Kit Wilson

The WWE Radio page on the SiriusXM website states that the channel features “live talk shows”, with The Miz and Kit Wilson being a perfect fit for such an offering.

Not only a veteran of the WWE, The Miz has past experience on reality television, forming a strong combination when it comes to transitioning into a talk show role. Combining the long-tenured star with the comparatively youthful voice of Kit Wilson, either in or out of character, could make an interesting pairing as they explore happenings in and out of WWE.

Joe Hendry

With a recent album release, Joe Hendry would be an ideal fit for a regular series covering the history of WWE music, potentially featuring fellow stars, composers and the like as they discuss the impact of themes, both successful and otherwise.

It’s not difficult to see such an offering on the official WWE YouTube channel, particularly with a charismatic host in the form of Joe Hendry leading the show.

Danhausen

As much as Danhausen has proven time and again that he’s a made-for-television character, a slot on WWE Radio would be something he would no doubt excel in.

The idea of Danhausen’s Very Evil Hour has plenty of legs, covering any range of bases. With the star engaging with fellow roster members outside of WWE programming, turning such interactions into content for the radio platform wouldn’t be that great a stretch for his mind.

John Cena

He may be retired as an in-ring star, but John Cena continues to be a presence in WWE, with his self-named Classic expected to take place later this year. According to the star himself, there is “a lot of information” that he wants to share, but the time is not now.

Rarely does a day go by when Cena isn’t sharing something motivational on social media, with the star also appearing on the interview scene on a regular basis. It’s this combination that would make him a strong proposition for WWE Radio, adding to the interview shows hosted by Stephanie McMahon and Cody Rhodes.

Adding WWE Stars To The Radio Makes Sense

The professional wrestling world isn’t short of stars with their own podcast. Even AJ Styles launched his own show earlier this year, although it now appears to have come to an end. For Cody Rhodes and his What Do You Wanna Talk About? show and Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story?, both names have conducted interviews with fellow WWE names as well as those from further afield. This is in addition to Busted Open, which sees Bully Ray among those on hosting duties.

Adding WWE stars to the platform makes sense in that they are, after all, under contract and can likely be used in a variety of ways beyond appearances on television. It would also add a further string to their respective bows, taking them out of the comfort zone of Raw, SmackDown or NXT.
