Now officially a member of The Opps in AEW, Anthony Bowens has revealed that he has “unfinished business” as a singles star.

Joining The Opps at AEW Collision: Playoff Palooza on April 25, Anthony Bowens hasn’t ruled out a future on his own.

Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Bowens made it clear he has unfinished business in the singles field, but unforeseen circumstances have led him to where he is today, saying:

“There’s lots. I won’t get into that right now. There was a lot of different moving parts that we didn’t foresee happening and it altered a lot of other things, which led to where we are today.

“I’ll touch on that at some point in time, but there’s a lot of unfinished business.”

Having split up with Max Caster as The Acclaimed in January 2025, Bowens would spend much of last year in singles competition, although would not be able to parley the AEW World Tag Team Championship or World Trios Championship success into a solo title run.

At various points, it seemed like Caster and Bowens could reunite in AEW, but that was very much dashed when the latter sought to join The Opps earlier this year, with his association being formalized on Collision: Playoff Palooza.

A New Era For Bowens

Bowens is no stranger to being a heel in AEW, but giving him a new opportunity presents itself as a member of The Opps, alongside Hook and Katsuyori Shibata.

The three original members of The Opps have demonstrated the harder tone they bring to the AEW roster, thanks to their aggressive in-ring style and pursuit of opportunities that have seen both the AEW World Championship and World Trios Championship in their possession.

Bowens being added to The Opps in April of this year marks the first new addition since the same time in 2025, with Powerhouse Hobbs being the fourth member, only to depart in January ahead of his WWE debut and rebirth as Royce Keys.

Given Bowens an opportunity to explore a more dangerous presentation, separate from what he established in The Acclaimed and with Billy Gunn, could be just what the AEW star needs to reinvent himself.

It would also be interesting to see Bowens compete, once again, in singles action, if only to put paid to any suggestion that Max Caster still has a part to play in his AEW story.
