Lizzy Rain has revealed that she only got told about plans for her WWE NXT debut one week ahead of time.

The April 28 episode of WWE NXT saw Lizzy Rain make her in-ring debut alongside a number of new stars.

With Rain having been introduced to fans in a vignette on last week’s NXT, the new star has recently shared an insight into the guidance she has received of what’s expected of her.

Speaking on Busted Open After Dark, Rain was asked if NXT names such as Matt Bloom, Shawn Michaels, Robert Stone had given any direction, with the star saying:

“I haven’t really had any guidance about what they expect from me. They’ve just thrown me into the deep end.

“I got a text during WrestleMania, ‘You’re filming this vignette for NXT,’ I was like ‘Oh really? Ok I didn’t know this was going to be happening so fast, I just did my dark match last week’.

“So yeah, it all just happened in a flash, so I haven’t even got to that point yet of what’s expected of me. Go out there and do my s**t I guess.”

Rain would also reveal that the text message in question came during the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night One, which saw Cody Rhodes defeat Randy Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship, and she only found out about her April 28 debut match when she filmed her vignette on the following Monday.

Rising To The Surface In The Deep End

Thrown in at the deep end, she may claim to be, but Lizzy Rain has already demonstrated the character and presentation that could make her stand out as a WWE NXT star.

Heavy metal themed, with a familial link to the legendary Iron Maiden, Rain has made her presence felt with a televised victory over Nikkita Lyons.

NXT has given her a perfect opportunity to embrace the edge that her “Maiden of Metal” persona brings to the ring, honing it for a potential future as a champion, something she is clearly looking toward.

WWE NXT has been the breeding ground for a generation of main roster stars, with there being no doubt that the talent seen on the Tuesday night show has an eye on a Raw and SmackDown-based future.

Rain’s future is very much in her own hands, but her comments during Busted Open After Dark indicate a star very much confident, having overcome a career-threatening injury in her recent past.
