Debuting next week on WWE NXT, Lizzy Rain has revealed that the jacket she is wearing belonged to the late Clive Burr of Iron Maiden.
Part of the tryouts over last year’s SummerSlam weekend, it was subsequently confirmed that Rayne Leverkusen had signed with the WWE, with that news emerging earlier this year.
Reborn as Lizzy Rain, a vignette played for the new star on this week’s NXT, ahead of her debut match on the April 28 episode.
The vignette presented Rain with a distinctly old-school metal theme, which is fitting considering her family, which includes the late Iron Maiden drummer, Clive Burr.
Rain confirmed that the jacket belonged to her “uncle Clive” in a post on Twitter that reads:
“The jacket I wear during my entrance is actually my uncle Clive’s jacket. I wear this jacket with pride and honour every single time.
“Heavy metal will never EVER die 🤘🏼”
Known as “The Maiden of Metal”, the former Leverkusen competed on the independent wrestling scene, holding multiple championships in the United Kingdom.
Her tryout would see the star named MVP, with Head Coach Matt Bloom also praising Leverkusen as “someone who raised the bar“.
Burr served as the drummer for Iron Maiden from 1979 until his departure in 1982, going on to perform with a number of other bands, before his passing due to complications related to multiple sclerosis on March 12, 2013.
A Throwback For A New Generation
The presentation of Lizzy Rain on WWE NXT, just from the short vignette, gives very 80s metal vibes, with the loud and brash star making her intentions known in mere seconds.
Over a heavy guitar riff, Rain is unapologetic in what she’s about to unleash on WWE NXT, saying:
“They said I was too loud, too gritty, too apologetic, but I will never apologize for who I am, and that is Lizzy Rain, and heavy metal, baby.”

Everything about Rain suggests that NXT creative have a lot of faith in the signing, even if it’s too early to predict what direction she will be heading in on television when it comes to feuds and opponents.
The intensity on show is clear, but it’s her actions in the ring that will make or break her future. Thankfully, for the former independent wrestling star, she has the credentials to back it up, having competed since 2021 and held multiple championships. More recently, Rain competed in her first WWE match, defeating Layla Diggs in an untelevised dark match on the April 14 NXT Revenge special.
A confident star in her own right, Rain is more than capable of succeeding in NXT under this character, with it seeming to be a good fit for the main roster, should that day occur. It’s also not difficult to imagine an entrance with a live metal band playing her music at an appropriate Premium Live Event.
Before that happens, of course, fans get to see what Lizzy Rain can do in the ring and how her character comes across on screen next week.
