Austin and Colten Gunn have commented after their father Billy Gunn seemingly retired on AEW Collision tonight (July 22).
After a storied career of over 30 years in professional wrestling, it seemed that tonight on AEW Collision, Billy Gunn retired from in-ring action.
Gunn removed his boots and left them in the middle of the ring after a trios match where he teamed with the Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) against the House of Black (Buddy Matthews, Brody King and Malakai Black).
Gunn appeared emotional during the scene as he unlaced his boots while the crowd chanted, “You still got it,” at the 59 year old star.
After the segment, his real-life sons Austin and Colten Gunn took to social media, staying somewhat in character noting that they may not be on the best of terms with Billy, but still shared clearly heartfelt messages to their father.
Colten Gunn wrote:
we aren’t on the best terms right now but thank you….no other words need to be said
And Austin Gunn tweeted:
all jokes aside, thank you for everything 🖤
never needed a big send off, never asked for anything, just went out there & had fun
and even though we haven’t seen eye to eye recently, we love you @RealBillyGunn
We’ll keep you posted if there’s any further official news on Billy’s apparent retirement, but it certainly appears that his in-ring career is over.
