After a hospital stay, AEW name and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has revealed he’s heading home soon and has spoken to Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Since late May of this year, Jim Ross has been in hospital, having previously discussed a fall that took place ahead of Double or Nothing in New York, although the two have not been explicitly connected.
Ross has now confirmed that he’s going back home on Tuesday, providing an update on his status and revealed he’s been in contact with Stone Cold Steve Austin, tweeting:
“Going home this Tuesday!
“Had a great phone visit with @steveaustinBSR today.
“Biz is picking up! π€ ”
With a fan asking his Grillin’ JR co-host, Conrad Thompson, about the health of the WWE Hall of Famer earlier this week, the podcaster would state:
“He sounded terrific yesterday! Doing PT today and heβs fighting like hell to be back doing his thing!”
AEW Double or Nothing took place on May 24, with Ross recounting how he missed his flight after suffering a fall and being unable to reach his phone to call for help.
Ross was able to get a flight re-booked, going to reveal that he went to his room, sitting on the edge of the bed to relax, only for his back to give out, describing it as a “horrible experience”, leading to him returning home on Monday night.
In the aftermath of the fall, he would reveal he is “sore as hell” and would be trying to find a doctor, noting weakness in his legs and one of his legs going out from under him.
Details of what took place during Ross’ hospital stay are yet to be revealed, although WrestleTalk will keep readers updated should they emerge.
WrestleTalk wishes Jim Ross well in his recovery from his most recent setback.
The Voice Of Wrestling
For multiple decades, Jim Ross has established himself as an authoritative voice in professional wrestling, whether it be WCW, WWE, NJPW or AEW.
His Oklahoma accent may have seen ill-advised mockery from Ed Ferrara in WCW, but the voice of Jim Ross has long been associated with some of the biggest moments in the biggest professional wrestling promotions.
Two separate runs in WWE would see his time come to an end in March 2019, following his contract expiring. Beyond his commentary work, Ross had served as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, although he would step away from that role in 2005.
Signing with AEW in April 2019, Ross would return to a commentary role, something he had been passionate about continuing in his later years in WWE, despite some feeling he wasn’t up to the job. Also serving as a senior advisor, Ross would see his commentary role move to a part-time basis due to his health.
Health issues have seen him continue to appear on an infrequent basis, continuing to provide commentary for major matches on selected AEW pay-per-views.
