‘That Makes It Personal’ Kenny Omega Responds To AEW WrestleDream Challenge From Former UFC Champion AEW

AEW star Kenny Omega has responded in a fiery manner to a challenge laid out by a former UFC champion on social media.

Former UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson, who aside from his octagon exploits is known for being an avid gamer and streamer, has challenged the former AEW World Champion to a showdown at Street Fighter 6.

Omega is known for his prowess in Capcom’s legendary fighting series and even posted to Twitter recently announcing that he had achieved Master rank in the latest game’s online competitive play.

Johnson, not to be deterred by Omega’s skill decided upon himself to call out Omega for a duel in Seattle, Washington ahead of AEW’s WrestleDream pay-per-view event on October 1.

Johnson tweeted:

Hey @KennyOmegamanX, I hear you’re pretty good at Street Fighter.

How about you put your money where your mouth is and face ME at @AEW WrestleDream in my hometown of Seattle in a 1 v 1 battle in Street Fighter 6!

Loser donates to the charity of the winner’s choosing. You game?

This led Omega to respond, unsurprisingly accepting the chance to prove his mettle, while also throwing some playful shade at WWE star Xavier Woods.

Anyone’s free to insult my wrestling ability but this cockamamie idea that you’re better at Street Fighter than me?!

That makes it personal. For charity, I’ll do it – Heck, I can even put you in touch with @AustinCreedWins. You guys can bond over being losers, etc.

Bonded over their love of gaming Omega and Woods have frequently traded barbs via social media.

In 2018 The Elite (Omega, Nick & Matt Jackson) took on The New Day (Woods, Big E & Kofi Kingston) in a two out of three game at Street Fighter V at the 2018 E3 conference, in which New Day won.

It remains to be seen as to where and in what capacity Johnson and Omega’s Street Fighter clash will take place in Seattle for WrestleDream, but stay tuned for updates.
