There may have been an injury to an AEW star at Forbidden Door 2023 tonight.
Tonight’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view (June 25) featured a big match for the AEW Women’s World Championship as Willow Nightingale challenged Toni Storm.
At some point during the match, Storm suffered what appeared to be a potential facial injury as she started bleeding from her nose.
We’ll keep you updated on the severity of the issue as and when any news emerges.
To finish the match, after causing referee Stephon Smith to be distracted, Storm gouged at Nightingale’s eyes before hitting her with her finishing move, Storm Zero, to retain her AEW Women’s World Championship.
As the champ left ringside, it was shown that her match was being watched backstage by both Skye Blue and Britt Baker.
Elsewhere slated for tonight’s pay-per-view, huge matches between Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada, and Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay as some of AEW’s biggest stars face off against NJPW’s best.
In the night’s opening bout, MJF retained the AEW World Championship after sending out a hilarious scheduled tweet mid-match.
