AEW President Tony Khan has announced that an AEW star has been medically disqualified from continuing the Continental Cup.

The first-ever AEW Continental Challenge Cup is underway, with the final set to take place at AEW All In London next weekend at Wembley Stadium.

The quarter finals of the tournament got underway this week on AEW Dynamite, with Jon Moxley and Nigel McGuinness advancing to the semi-finals.

However, a late change has been made to the tournament line up after one of the competitors was ruled out with an injury.

In a social media stream today, Tony Khan announced that Eddie Kingston was not cleared to compete in his announced quarter final against Claudio Castagnoli on tomorrow night’s Collision show, and has been medically disqualified from the Continental Cup.

At tonight’s ROH Death Before Dishonor show, Adam Priest will face Daniel Garcia, with the winner going on to face Claudio in the quarter final tomorrow night on Collision.

Tomorrow night’s AEW Collision show will also feature the final quarter final match as Conglomeration stablemates Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly face off in the Continental Cup.

Who Will Win The Continental Cup?

As the final of the Continental Cup draws closer, there are now only a handful of names remaining to win the tournament.

With Kingston now out of the running, the obvious final for Wembley Stadium seems to be between champion Jon Moxley and Nigel McGuinness, with the match going either way.

A win for Nigel at Wembley would be an incredible moment on his home soil, with him taking the Continental Championship into the Continental Classic for one final in-ring run.

On the other hand, Wembley would be a nice place for Nigel to call it a career, which would see him come up short against Moxley in the final as Moxley continues on, looking to hold the Continental Championship for an entire year as the next Continental Classic approaches.

The other participants in the tournament have an outside shot at winning, though a match between Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley has felt like a long time coming over the past year after Moxley lost the AEW World Championship at last year’s All In event to Adam Page.
