AEW Star Came Up With ‘New’ Tag Team Name Several Years Ago AEW

AEW star Kenny Omega has revealed the origins of his and Chris Jericho’s Golden Jets tag-team name, ahead of Full Gear 2023.

The two Canadian stars will team up to face the Young Bucks at the November 18 pay-per-view. If the ‘Golden Jets’ win, they will receive the AEW Tag Team Title shot which Matt & Nick Jackson previously earned.

Speaking with Bleacher Report, Kenny Omega noted that Chris Jericho has been joking about the Golden Jets name for some time, long before they officially formed a tag-team.

Omega explained:

“That was Chris. He’s been kind of joking around about that name for quite a while. It’s got a little bit of a ring to it, and here we are, years and years and years later, and it’s actually become a thing.”

The name appears to be a homage to both stars’ home city, with there being a Winnipeg based ice hockey team named the Winnipeg Jets.

The AEW Tag Team Championship will also be defended at this weekend’s pay-per-view, with Big Bill and Ricky Starks to put their gold on the line in a fourway bout against Brody King & Malakai Black, Dralisitico & Rush and Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler.
