MJF’s AEW contract expires on January 1, 2024, and Maxwell Jacob Friedman knows that there will likely be a bidding war in 2024.
In a recent interview with MJF for Today.com, Tony Khan was asked about the impending contract expiration.
He wouldn’t go into specifics of the current contract.
Friedman, however, is “well aware” of the AEW owner’s desire to extend his current contract beyond the 2024 end date.
Khan did reveal that:
“It’s certainly something (MJF) knows is a priority for AEW and me personally.”
As further proof, as if any were needed, of MJF’s knowledge of his position in the company, the AEW World Heavyweight Champion said:
“If with the trajectory that I’m on right now as the World Heavyweight Champion, if I continue to create incredible moments for wrestling fans up until 2024, I feel even if I left them at the tender age of 27, I will have left an everlasting legacy in the history of this business, and you’re welcome.”
MJF’s future could take him beyond the world of wrestling.
He is set to appear in the film The Iron Claw, in which he will play Lance Von Erich.
MJF will defend both the AEW World Championship and the Dynamite Diamond Ring against Ricky Starks at AEW Dynamite ‘Winter Is Coming’ on December 14.
