AEW World Champion MJF has shared his honest thoughts on the promotion’s newest signing, NJPW star Will Ospreay
Ospreay was revealed to be AEW’s new major signing during Saturday’s Full Gear pay-per-view. The popular star noted that he intends to return to Japan to finish his run in NJPW before joining AEW for the road to Revolution 2024.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso for FanNation ahead of Full Gear, MJF argued that Ospreay is great, but not as much of a complete wrestler as he is.
Not interested in sharing the ring with Ospreay, MJF said:
“Will’s great, but he’s not the complete package, I am.
“The scary part is I haven’t even hit my ceiling yet. Luckily for Will, he hasn’t had to step in the ring with me. If he never does, he will continue to be lucky.
“As far as Will Ospreay goes, that guy is, as his people would say, a bellend. I would like him to stay very far away from me.
MJF pulled double duty at Full Gear. He first teamed with Samoa Joe to defend his and Adam Cole’s ROH Tag Team Championship against The Gunns in the Zero Hour pre-show.
After it was initially announced that Adam Cole would be replacing MJF in the show’s main event, MJF ultimately returned to defeat Jay White with the AEW World Title on the line.
In the post-show media scrum, Will Ospreay explained why he chose to join AEW.
