Former WWE star Tehuti Miles (fka Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis of Hit Row) has provided insight on how Vince McMahon views WWE.
WWE specifically brands itself as a sports entertainment brand rather than a wrestling company, with the corporate company overview page not featuring the word ‘wrestling’ even once.
Speaking on The Angle Podcast, Tehuti recalled the WWE Chairman himself telling Hit Row that WWE is a ‘movie production’ with actors performing stunts, rather than wrestlers competing in matches.
Tehuti noted:
“Vince McMahon told us, us as in Hit Row, he told us to our faces that this is a movie production and we’re the actors who do our own stunts,” said Miles. “That’s coming from Vince McMahon. So if he’s saying that, maybe people should start thinking about this a little differently.”
This falls in line with McMahon’s famous ‘Beyond The Mat’ quote; ‘We make movies, pal’.
Tehuti and the rest of Hit Row were released from their WWE contracts in November 2021. AJ Francis, fka Hit Row’s Top Dolla, recently confirmed that he has had ‘very good conversations‘ with IMPACT Wrestling.
