NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes has commented after losing his WWE Raw debut match on last night’s June 26 episode of Raw.
After saving Seth Rollins from Finn Balor earlier in the night, Hayes ended up in a match against Balor, but it was Balor who picked up the win.
Taking to Twitter after the show, Hayes wrote:
Debuted on #WWERaw. Gotta let it sink in… Dream come true. Win or loss, still HIM.
In a post-match interview that was posted on WWE.com, Hayes said:
“I can’t take away from Finn Balor, Judgment Day, Finn’s one of the best in the world. If I’ve gotta take a loss to one of the best in the world, I can accept that.
“But listen, the important thing is tomorrow night against Baron Corbin for the NXT Championship.
“I’m not 100%, but I believe I can beat Baron at 75%, at 50%, at 25%. I know he’s gonna put up a great fight, but I’m ready man.
“Might take a loss, but I look in the mirror and I’m still Carmelo Hayes, so that’s a W.”
