After making an appearance at ringside in the crowd, a major debut match for Carmelo Hayes on tonight’s WWE Raw against Finn Balor.

To set up the bout, an earlier segment featuring Melo getting the nod from an important WWE star.

During an in-ring segment with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, an appearance in the crowd by NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes.

However when Finn Balor appeared out of nowhere with a steel chair to attack Seth Rollins, he would eventually come face to face with Hayes.

Hayes got involved when Rollins and Balor’s brawling got near to him, grabbing away the chair from Balor, and later it was announced that by the end of the night he would have gotten very involved.

Hayes was announced to have his debut match on WWE Raw tonight (June 26) against Finn Balor himself.

And this comes ahead of Hayes’ NXT Championship title defense on tomorrow night’s episode of NXT against Baron Corbin no less!

On last week’s NXT, Hayes and Trick Williams saved Rollins from Balor too, but tonight on Raw, Williams wasn’t present.

Also of note, Melo had a backstage interview with Cathy Kelley and also had a video package about him before the match with Balor, getting a hearty amount of television time on the main roster tonight.

Melo made the most of his minutes and while he ultimately fell to Finn Balor in the match, losing clean via pinfall, the match certainly contained exciting moments from the top NXT star.

Featuring his high flying and precision offense, Melo looked absolutely in his element among the other stars on WWE Raw.

Elsewhere on tonight’s WWE Raw, Cody Rhodes hilariously taunted Dominik Mysterio with some sage wisdom and another Championship match was made official for Money in the Bank on Saturday.
