In some shocking news, PWInsider is reporting that Cesaro is gone from WWE following the expiration of his contract.
The report says that Cesaro and WWE were unable to come to terms on a new contract after negotiations. Since this is a contract expiring, there will be no 90 day non-compete clause.
The star was scheduled to be at tomorrow’s SmackDown taping in Hershey, PA, but will obviously no longer be there.
The Swiss Superman signed with the company in 2011. After a brief stint in the developmental territory FCW, he was called up to the main roster in 2012.
Cesaro is a former United States Champion, multi-time Tag Team Champion and the first ever Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner.
He last appeared for the company on the February 11 edition of SmackDown in a loss to Happy Corbin.
We’ll continue to provide any further details on Cesaro’s WWE departure as they come to light.
In a couple of updates, details have been provided on the backstage reaction to the news, as well as the reason why his deal was up so soon after he was believed to have signed a new one a year ago.
