Cody Rhodes On Possibility Of Bringing Back Classic WWE Championship Design WWE

Cody Rhodes has discussed the possibility of him bringing back the classic ‘winged eagle’ WWE Championship design.

Following his return to WWE, Rhodes teased the return of the fan-favourite title on his Instagram story.

Speaking on WWE After The Bell, Rhodes recalled being the person to re-introduce a version of the Intercontinental Championship to WWE TV in October 2011.

Noting that bringing the winged eagle belt back as WWE Champion would be the ultimate industry dream, Rhodes said:

“I did do that once with the Intercontinental title, it took a lot of work but it was the right call once we got there. I think there’s a particular design of the WWE Championship that people are very fond of. I’d say hypothetically it really would be something to achieve the ultimate industry dream, being the best of the best ever in terms of that moment in time, and then perhaps give it a fresh coat of paint with the winged eagle (title). That would just be something, that’s all I can really say.”

Rhodes made his WWE return at WrestleMania 38 in April, after leaving his AEW Executive Vice President position in February.

The American Nightmare will face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will also be in action at the event, teaming with The Usos to take on Drew McIntyre & RK-Bro.
