Cody Rhodes has a chance to still ‘finish the story’ at WrestleMania 40 as tonight he won his second-straight WWE Royal Rumble match.
The last six men in the 2024 Royal Rumble were Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, GUNTHER and CM Punk.
However when Zayn eliminated Priest, McIntyre took the opportunity to eliminate Zayn who had just joined the match as number 30, bringing the field down to four.
The final four faced off in the ring as both Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were shown watching the event from their own respective suites in the stadium.
After CM Punk was able to eliminate Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes eliminated GUNTHER, the pair of champs were shown again before the final two began to brawl.
The final two of the WWE Royal Rumble 2024 were CM Punk and Cody Rhodes.
In the end it was Cody Rhodes who was able to eliminate CM Punk and yet again win the Royal Rumble.
The win marks the first time since 1997 and 1998 when Stone Cold Steve Austin won back-to-back Royal Rumbles.
After the match, Cody Rhodes seemed to clearly select Roman Reigns as his WrestleMania 40 opponent, in a rematch from WrestleMania 39.
