Drew McIntyre Shares Thoughts On WWE Holding Off On Roman Reigns Title Match WWE

Drew McIntyre has shared his honest thoughts on WWE holding off on a match between himself and Roman Reigns.

McIntyre and Reigns have been facing off on the house show circuit since before WrestleMania 38. When McIntyre confronted Reigns during the Usos vs RK-Bro contract signing, many fans thought that the two top stars would be facing off in singles action at WrestleMania Backlash.

Instead, the two stars did share the ring, but in six-man tag-team action, with McIntyre teaming with RK-Bro, and Reigns siding with the Usos. WWE is reportedly saving the Reigns vs McIntyre feud for later this year.

Speaking with CBS Sports ahead of WrestleMania Backlash, McIntyre argued that delaying the match has built more anticipation for the eventual clash.

Teasing a showdown in a stadium, McIntyre said:

“It’s awesome to be back around… Roman Reigns and The Bloodline have been doing incredible things for a couple of years. Literally running the industry when it comes to Roman and for McIntyre to step back into that picture, but also to be side-by-side with Randy and Riddle who have been having the time of their life this past year, I’ve never seen Randy so happy in the ring and out of the ring.

“It’s cool to be involved in that picture. The tag title scene has been so interesting with those two tag teams going at it. With the addition of myself and Roman, you get an interesting dynamic and you get to delay that match.

“I know everyone wants everything right now. Now you get an interesting wrinkle to the equation and then you get to delay that match that’s going to then build even more anticipation and when it happens, maybe even in a stadium or somewhere else down the line with more elements added to the story, if you finally get that match — I assume that will eventually happen — it’ll be an even bigger deal.”

There are several WWE stadium shows coming up, including Money In The Bank and SummerSlam in July, and Clash At The Castle at Wales’ Principality Stadium in September.

In the main event of WrestleMania Backlash, the Tribal Chief pinned Riddle to score the victory for his team. The WWE Universal Champion has reportedly signed a new deal with WWE, which you can read more about right here.
