A former WWE Champion has addressed potentially coming out of retirement in AEW, with Darby Allin a “dream” opponent.

After making his first appearance for the company during the AEW Double or Nothing 2026 Buy-In, Mick Foley is now officially a part of the AEW fold.

While he missed AEW Forbidden Door, Tony Khan has raised expectations for Foley to be a part of AEW Redemption on July 26, presumably once again appearing during the show’s pre-show.

Despite taking a low blow from MJF during his Double or Nothing appearance, it appears as if Foley’s role in AEW will not be a physical one, however, the WWE Hall of Famer didn’t entirely shut the door on the possibility of wrestling in the company either during a recent interview with Ariel Helwani.

Foley once again didn’t dismiss the idea when chatting with Going Ringside, but said he’d have to see “if the stars aligned” to make it happen:

“I had this great 30 minute conversation with Ariel Helwani and he asked me about the possibility of one more match. You never know, I did say if the stars were aligned, but we have to see how the stars align.

“I’d have to be in really good shape and feel like I could have a match that wouldn’t disappoint people.”

Foley would then bring up Darby Allin’s name, noting that he has referred to him as a “dream opponent” in the past:

“I pointed out to Darby that I am on record of saying he would be a dream opponent, so you never know. You never know what the future may bring.

I’m down a lot of weight but my cardio is suspect at best and I’d still have to lose another 30lbs just to hit poor condition. So we’ll see if there’s some changes in the next year.”

Mick Foley hasn’t wrestled in a major company since his cameo in the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble, with his last one-one match coming over a year before that, when he and Ric Flair faced off in a Last Man Standing Match in TNA Wrestling.
