Will Ospreay reacted emotionally after earning an AEW World Title opportunity at All In London 2026.

The main event of last night’s AEW Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view saw Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland do battle in the Men’s Owen Hart Cup Final, with Ospreay coming out on top to earn an AEW World Title opportunity at All In London on August 30.

Ospreay has had AEW World Title opportunities in the past, he has also captured gold at Wembley Stadium – defeating MJF for the AEW International Title at All In 2024 – however, he has never had the opportunity to win AEW’s top prize on home soil.

Speaking during the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 press conference, Ospreay reflected on his journey to reach this point, and looked ahead to potentially making history at All In London:

“I’ve gone around the world, wrestled up and down England, wrestled all over Europe, had eight years of my life in Japan, and now I’m here in AEW and I just won the Owen Hart Cup and I have just punched my ticket to the main event of Wembley Stadium.

“I’m fighting for so much, for a dream for so many kids who just wanted to be a part of Wembley Stadium, to be in that place. I have an opportunity to be the first Englishman to ever in a world championship on English soil. I’m on cloud nine right now, it’s been a rough couple weeks for me personally.

“So, to be here right now, sitting in front of all you guys as a winner of the Owen Hart Cup, I want to say thank you.

“Thank you to everybody that has supported me from day one. Thank you to mum and dad for buying me that wrestling ring. Thanks to all the backyard wrestling boys that I love. Thank you to everyone from Revolution Pro Wrestling, from Pro Wrestling EVE, to New Japan Pro Wrestling, and to Tony (Khan).

“Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity. Thank you to everybody that has supported me throughout this crazy journey. I hope I don’t let you down. Let’s get to Wembley.”

While Ospreay is full of appreciation for everyone who helped him along the way in his pro wrestling journey, he is not lacking in confidence in his abilities and believes that he can help carry AEW’s main event picture consistently for a long time.

Ospreay continued:

“I think honestly if you look at that main event and you look up and down that card. Who’d want to follow the cage match? Who’d wanna follow Bandido? Who’d wanna follow any of those guys who were on that show today? I did.

“Because I believed so heartily that If I can be in that main event consistently, pay-per-view after pay-per-view after pay-per-view as a world champion, I believe that I am the best wrestler in the world.

“If this is where the best wrestle, the Billy Goat should be in the main event constantly bruv.”

MJF is currently the AEW World Champion, and is in line to be Ospreay’s opponent at All In London, however, the 30-year-old is not guaranteed to still be holding the gold by the time AEW gets to Wembley Stadium.

Mark Briscoe earned a title shot against MJF for this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite (July 1) after his team defeated MJF’s team in the six-way cage match at Forbidden Door.

There is also one more AEW PPV before All In London, as the company heads to Centre Bell in Montreal for the first-ever Redemption event on July 26.
