CM Punk continues to reign supreme when comes to speculation as to what’s next for the man who was once AEW’s hottest property.
With his time in AEW likely coming to an end and suggestions that he may not need to wrestle again, there are still those who think he may be heading back to WWE.
One of the names to throw their weight behind this belief is former WWE official Mike Chioda.
Speaking on his Monday Mailbag podcast (subscription required), Chioda said:
“I wouldn’t let go of CM Punk because from a business point of view, whether they start pinning Punk down the road a year or two from now or whatever they do with him, I think they’ll take him away from AEW.”
Chioda worked for WWE over thirty years before his release in April 2020 and has been a referee for AEW, giving him an insight into operations in both companies.
Referring to the possibility of CM Punk being picked up by WWE at some point down the line, Chioda explained:
“That would be a huge draw in ratings on TV for WWE if they get Punk back.”
Wherever Punk ends up and in whatever form that journey takes, we’ll cover the news on WrestleTalk.
