AEW Stars Reveal Advice Veteran Gave Them About Their Name

AEW Stars Reveal Advice Veteran Gave Them About Their Name Twitter

AEW stars reveal the advice that one veteran to the professional wrestling industry gave them regarding their name.

When Colten and Austin Gunn appeared on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, they discussed a variety of topics, including what advice their literal Daddy, Daddy Ass himself Billy Gunn had about the duo using his most famous moniker.

While the Gunns continue to attempt to refute the name, Danhausen’s nickname of “The Ass Boys” has continued to haunt the tag team, despite having split from their actual father Billy Gunn in the ring.

When discussing what the elder Gunn thought of the nickname, Austin was quick to point out the issue, saying:

“That’s part of the problem with him, he’s friends with Danhausen and loves it, and told us to ’embrace the ass’ and you can see where the cracks started to form.

“His entire career he was known as ‘Mr. Ass’ so when we’re called ‘Ass Boys’ it doesn’t make us more popular, it’s just a reminder that ‘hey they still remember me, I’m still relevant, I’m 58 years old, give me all the attention.’ He hogs everything. He wants to dance with [AEW Referee Aubrey Edwards] in the ring, wants to take the spotlight, just take a backseat. He can’t do it.”

While the Gunns may have gone forward to join MJF’s faction on retainer, The Firm, Billy Gunn continues his amusing antics with The Acclaimed.

Although it is possible that Daddy Ass will need to take a break from scissoring The Acclaimed as a major development on AEW Dynamite put a stop to their use of the popular catch phrase.
