Bron Breakker has been touted as one of the hottest prospects to come out of NXT 2.0, but many people have wondered why he isn’t using the ‘Steiner’ surname made famous by his father Rick and uncle Scott.
Breakker was originally in line to use the name ‘Rex Steiner’ before WWE decided to change it to Bron Breakker before his NXT debut, with many speculating that the reason could be due to animosity between WWE and Scott Steiner.
WrestlingNews.co asked a source in WWE about this speculation, and were told that Vince has no issue with Big Poppa Pump. When asked why Steiner was not part of the WWE Hall of Fame, they were told it was due to Scott stating on numerous occasions that he doesn’t want to be inducted, and that there is no issue between the two like what kept Bruno Sammartino and the Ultimate Warrior out of the hall for so long.
WWE reportedly are open to working with Steiner, and they tried to make a deal for him to sign a legend’s contract a few years ago, which he rejected.
PWInsider has stated that the reason why Bron Breakker is not using the Steiner name is simply so WWE can own the trademark.
