Hulk Hogan Claims Scrapped WWE Retirement Plans, Names Supposed Opponent WWE

Hulk Hogan has claimed that Vince McMahon had plans for the WWE Hall of Famer to retire and it would apparently have involved John Cena.

The Hulkster’s final match of his third return to WWE would be against Randy Orton at SummerSlam in 2006, but Hogan claims that McMahon had plans for after this.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Hogan claimed that there were plans for his retirement match to be against John Cena, saying:

“Vince [McMahon] had me all hooked up with Cena and I said I’d do it.

“Vince and I were talking every week and we were putting the plans together you know, like the old days where I was in the office every day him and I were talking every day and all of a sudden I’m on the phone with Vince I was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh, my back went out’ when I was talking to Vince on the phone.

“I just had back surgery number three or four at that time, and I had to go right in immediately and get cut up.

“So that was it for that but I thought that was going to be my last match and then you know, but that never happened and then it just kind of like faded away.”

Hogan would leave the company after his 2006 match, appearing in Memphis Wrestling before heading to TNA in 2009 for his second run in Dixie Carter’s company.

Hogan hasn’t wrestled since the IMPACT Wrestling TNA Maximum Impact Tour of the UK in 2012 when he teamed with James Storm and Sting to defeat Bobby Roode, Bully Ray & Kurt Angle.

Hogan also revealed that he has signed a new deal with WWE and teased the possibility of being involved on screen in some capacity.
