WWE
John Cena has revealed the truth about his issues with The Rock in WWE and comments made during their WrestleMania feud.
Cena and Rock main evented both WrestleMania 28 and 29, with Cena often making comments about Rock claiming to love WWE but not actually showing up, instead prioritizing his transition to Hollywood.
Of course, a few years later, Cena would find himself in the same position as Rock and essentially doing the exact same thing he criticized Rock for doing.
Now, Cena has opened up about the lack of wisdom he had at that time, and how he now appreciates what Rock was doing.
Speaking on Slice Joint, Cena said:
“He’s great. You have someone who has a high level of success in one realm of entertainment, and then switches relatively quickly to another realm.
“I’m inching along, dude. I did a lot of bad movies early in my career, I came back with bit parts, one thing at a time, trying to get a little bit more in the window, and here we are talking about a big release of Little Brother coming out on Netflix. Fantastic.
“Dwayne is selling out arenas and then goes straight to The Mummy. I think it was so groundbreaking that when I was talking trash about him, I didn’t understand it. I have the utmost respect for Dwayne Johnson as a professional and as a person.
“And it took a while. My original issue with him was, this is a long time ago, ‘He says he loves the business but he’s never around.’ Yeah, he’s never around because he’s making an awesome name for himself, and by making a name for himself, is doing better for people like me.
“So again, it was just me not having the wisdom to know when to open my ears and shut my mouth.”

More WWE Stars Going Into Hollywood
Now more than ever, there are a number of WWE stars who are making the transition that the likes of The Rock, John Cena and Batista made into Hollywood.
Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, Liv Morgan, Becky Lynch and more have all taken on acting roles as of late, leading to periods away from WWE television.
It’s something that some fans still criticize WWE stars for, but it’s becoming more normalized and it’s pretty routine at this point for WWE’s top stars to be off TV periodically.
A positive of this is it rotates the main event scene a decent amount and means allows for the “how can we miss you if you won’t go away” principle, but at the same time, it does mean some fans of particular wrestlers miss out when their favorite isn’t featured on TV for a while.
