Interesting News On Keith Lee Joining AEW, Jeff Hardy Referenced On Dynamite, Becky Lynch Vs. Ric Flair Continues – Audio News Bulletin – February 10, 2022

Keith Lee is All Elite, there was a subtle, well kind of subtle, reference to Jeff Hardy on AEW Dynamite last night, the war of words between Becky Lynch and Ric Flair rages on, and more.

It’s Thursday morning, hot off the heels of a big episode of Dynamite. I’m Liam Winnard for WrestleTalk.com, and this is our audio news bulletin for February 10, 2022.

Listen to this morning’s round-up here:

Interesting Note On Keith Lee Joining AEW & Jay White’s Debut

The speculation finally came to an end last night when Keith Lee, with no Bearcat name in sight, appeared on AEW Dynamite and put in a fanastic showing against Isiah Kassidy to qualify for the Face of the Revolution ladder match next month.

Lee wasn’t the only debut though, because Jay White stepped through the Forbidden Door for a segment with Adam Cole and the Young Bucks, and AQA – the former Zayda Ramier – debuted in a losing effort against Jade Cargill in a TBS Title match.

Tony Khan took to Twitter after the fact to confirm that Lee has signed with AEW, but did also make another very interesting comment.

Keith Lee was triumphant in dominant fashion over Isiah Kassidy last night

Khan admitted that when he initially made the announcement last week that there would be a debut he quote “butchered” his own definition of the Forbidden Door. This is because many people pointed out that if the signing was just a free agent, which Lee was, why would that be considered forbidden? That’s just signing someone who is available.

Khan said that he listened to the feedback and it was only this past Sunday that he secured Jay White appearing to make sure he still delivered on the promise he had made.

So, had he not mentioned the Forbidden Door and people not pointed out the issue with that, we probably wouldn’t have had White on the show last night.

Jeff Hardy Referenced On AEW Dynamite

We might not have to wait too long for the next big AEW signing to come in as well, a month to be exact, because that’s when Jeff Hardy will become available after his non-compete expires.

There had already been a few hints that last night’s debut could have been Hardy, and after something that happened on last night’s show, it does seem almost a certainty that the debut is coming soon.

A Hardy Boyz reunion is looking almost inevitable at this point

During the aforementioned Keith Lee vs Isiah Kassidy match, Matt Hardy was in Kassidy’s corner, and there seems to be an ongoing storyline where Matt is becoming disappointed in Private Party’s failures, which many expect to lead to a Private Party vs Hardy Boyz match when Jeff comes in.

Well last night, Matt got so annoyed with Kassidy’s performance that he jumped the guardrail and left the ringside area – seemingly purposely reminiscent of the house show incident that Jeff’s WWE release stemmed from.

Commentary also made a very particular interesting remark as he did it, with Tony Schiavone referring to Matt’s actions as “erratic”, the same word that was used to describe Jeff’s.

Becky Lynch Vs. Ric Flair

The rivalry between Becky Lynch and Ric Flair shows no signs of stopping, as the pair were back at it again yesterday with some words exchanged.

It started with Flair – obviously – who, on the latest episode of his podcast, said:

“Once again, she’s not ‘Ronnie,’ she’s Ronda Rousey. And anybody who’s stupid enough to call her ‘Ronnie’ and make a joke of her presence, what she brings to the company, is out of their mind, AKA — what is her name now — Big Time Becks. ‘Hey Ronnie, welcome back.’ That’s exciting, that’s really exciting. How about, ‘Thank you Ronda for showing up because I’m not The Man anymore, I’m generic, who am I, Big Time Becks, The Lasskicker, I don’t know.”

Ronda Rousey will be challenging Ric’s daughter Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania

Well, word got out to Becky about Ric’s comments, so she took to Twitter to coin a brand new inspirational quote:

Work so hard your heroes become your rivals. Then, become so good, Ric Flair loses his mind every time you breathe

This all seems to stem from the legitimate heat between Becky and Ric’s daughter Charlotte that became so infamous near the end of last year, and also WWE’s previous use of The Man nickname for Lynch, which was of course, derived from Flair’s catchphrase of ‘to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man’.

Other Stuff

In other little bits of news…

Becky Lynch wasn’t the only current WWE star who Flair had some negative things to say about, as Sami Zayn was also the victim of quite the burial, which seemed to stem from Flair taking an issues with Zayn’s backstage conduct towards him.

Flair also threw some shade at Jon Moxley and CM Punk last night, because during their tag match against FTR, he tweeted:

.@CashWheelerFTR & @DaxFTR – You Just Made Two Good Performers Look Great!! Like Myself And THE HORSEMEN! #AEWDynamite

Chris Jericho filed to trademark ‘The Influencer’, so that’s another of the 24,479 nicknames he’s going to be going with soon.

Candy Floss revealed her deal with NXT UK expired and she’s no longer under contract.

Fightful Select revealed that the plans for Kurt Angle’s scrapped WWE return would have involved him being a part of the recent Alpha Academy vs RK-Bro academic challenges.

According to Ringside News, WWE has already decided on Shane McMahon’s replacement for his now-scrapped match at WrestleMania.

On the topic of Shane, Sharks Rugby owner Marco Masotti posted a pic with Shane on social media, and it seems like there were some kind of talks between the parties about a partnership between Sharks and WWE – so even though there are no TV plans for Shane anymore, he may still be involved in the company in at least some capacity on that front.

Vince McMahon has cancelled Shane McMahon’s planned matches at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania

Rob Van Dam revealed that he’d told WWE he would be good to return for the Royal Rumble if they wanted him to, and even had a new outfit made just in case.

Steve-O of Jackass revealed that he tested positive backstage at Royal Rumble for COVID-19 and had to leave early, so that’s why he wasn’t with the rest of the Jackass crew.

And Tuesday’s NXT 2.0 was watched by only 400,000 viewers in total, and got a rating of 0.07, which is 97,000 viewers, in the 18-49 demo. The show was of course on SyFy instead of USA because of the Winter Olympics.
