WWE’s Damian Priest has commented on his real-life partner Lola Vice winning the NXT Women’s Championship, praising her as a success story.

Lola Vice currently holds two titles, the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship she won alongside Mr Iguana in February, and the NXT Women’s Championship she won at the April 4 Stand & Deliver premium live event.

Speaking with Gabby AF, Damian Priest noted that he finds Lola Vice’s drive inspiring, noting that it makes him want to work harder himself.

Commenting on Lola Vice’s WWE success, Priest said:

“She’s another one of those success stories, obviously somebody who came from a different world, but then completely changed her life for our business.

“She just said it on NXT this past week, ‘I’m no longer a former MMA fighter, I’m a WWE superstar.’ What a perfect sentence, because that is what happened.

“She fell in love, now she asks me questions and is intrigued by the history of the business. She does her homework, trains like a mad person. It’s insane and I get it because when you feel that passion and you really want it, you completely change everything.”

Revealing some of the advice he has given to Vice recently, Priest continued:

“Obviously like anything else, there are frustrations, ‘What else do I need to do?’ I used to hear it all the time; ‘Just keep doing what you’re doing.’ that’s all you can say to somebody. It’s cool to see that she did do that, and then she achieved it.

“Now she’s a double champ in WWE, it’s crazy. She’s one of the faces of AAA, one of the faces of NXT, which are both basically meaning she’s one of the faces of WWE. It’s awesome. I told her, I was like, ‘Now the real work starts.’ I said it in front of some of her coaches and they were like ‘oh yeah.’

“I know that because that’s what I was told when I found success, won a title, and now you’re going to get busier and no is when you really have to prove yourself, because all eyes are on you.

“But she’s going to knock it out of the park because she has this crazy drive that’s wild to see, and very encouraging, it inspires you to do more yourself. Like no matter what I’ve achieved, I see what she does and I’m like ‘Ooh, I need to work a little harder.’

“It’s pretty cool, she earned it, she deserves it, and I hope she really enjoys it.”

Lola Vice’s first defence of the NXT Women’s Championship will be against former champion Jacy Jayne on the April 14 episode.

If she retains her gold, Vice seems destined for a collision with Kendal Grey, following Vice and Grey having no clear winner during their NXT Women’s Title #1 contender’s match which took place ahead of Stand & Deliver.

Lola Vice also highlighted Grey as someone who she believes will be a big challenge for her as champion.
