Major Announcement Involving AEW TV Partner Warner Bros. Discovery AEW/WBD

A major announcement has been made involving AEW’s TV partner, Warner Bros. Discovery, Fox and Disney launching a new sports streaming app.

There has been much discussion regarding the future of All Elite Wrestling on their television partner, Warner Bros Discovery with their current media rights deal expected to expire in October 2024.

On February 6, Variety reports that Fox Corp., Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney are set to launch a new streaming joint venture that will make all of their sports programming available under a single broadcast platform.

This move will put all the content from ESPN, TNT and Fox Sports on a new standalone streaming app.

In the process of this new venture, this will likely shake up the world of sports and how it is watched moving forward.

Subscribers will get access to linear sports networks including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ABC, Fox, FS1, FS2, BTN, TNT, TBS, truTV, and ESPN+.

There will also be hundred of hours from the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL as well as many college divisions. Pricing will be announced at a future date.

Each company would own one third of the new outlet and license their sports content to it on a non-exclusive basis. The service would have a new brand and an independent management team.

The structure will work similarly to what was in place when NBCUniversal and a predecessor company to Fox launched Hulu in 2008.

This will be a major change for Warner Bros. Discovery and could become a future streaming home for AEW content in the future.

There is no word on AEW’s re-negotiations with WBD at the time of this writing, but WrestleTalk will provide any further updates when they become available.
