AEW Star Says Kenny Omega & Young Bucks ‘Did Nothing Wrong’ In Backstage Drama AEW

AEW star Matt Hardy has shared his take on the recent backstage drama, arguing that Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were victims.

Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson and Kenny Omega haven’t appeared on AEW TV since their alleged involvement in a backstage fight with CM Punk following the September 4 All Out pay-per-view.

The altercation reportedly occurred following CM Punk’s appearance during the post-show media scrum, in which he called out several names including the AEW EVPs.

AEW has teased the return of The Elite in recent weeks, following the conclusion of the investigation into the backstage altercation.

On his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy argued that Omega and the Young Bucks didn’t do anything wrong throughout all the drama unfolding.

To clear up any misconceptions, Hardy wasn’t saying he was literally there to see the fight – he’s just talking about the situation that unfolded throughout several months.

Hardy said:

“It’s going to be very interesting to see The Elite back, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. I’m very happy they are back. I will say this right here and right now, those guys didn’t do anything wrong in this situation. If anything, they were the victims.

“I’m telling you that from a first person perspective. I was there, I witnessed it all. I love all three of those guys. I’ve known Matt and Nick forever. I’ve just gotten to know Kenny while working with AEW. I’m very happy they are returning to TV and they are back in the mix. They deserve to be in the mix.

“When I saw them yesterday, I said, ‘It’s so good to see you guys. You guys are the heart and soul of AEW.’ The Elite, in many ways, are the identity of AEW. Without those guys, you don’t have AEW as it is right now.

“Things are very different. Tony Khan may have started wrestling in some capacity, but All Elite Wrestling, those guys are the identity of AEW. It’s very important to have them back.”

Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson were all backstage at both the October 26 and November 2 AEW Dynamite TV tapings.

CM Punk is reportedly in talks with AEW regarding a potential contract buyout, however sources close to Punk have indicated that the star may not be done with wrestling.
