MJF Opponent For AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 Revealed

MJF Opponent For AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 Revealed AEW

A professional wrestling legend appeared on tonight’s AEW Dynamite to challenge MJF for a match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

However, would the AEW World Champion accept?

Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared in a pre-taped segment challenging MJF to a match at the upcoming crossover pay-per-view.

However, after the segment aired, Renee Paquette went to interview MJF regarding the match being made official.

MJF was not impressed nor concerned about having to actually face Tanahashi at the upcoming pay-per-view event.

Saying that he was not going to give a title shot to some random from a”rinky-dink indie fed in Japan” he also threw in a convincing argument based on past evidence.

Noting that it wouldn’t be the first time he had no-showed something Tony Khan booked him for, he was going to pass on Forbidden Door as well as a thumbs down with a mouth sound that you can imagine yourself.

The match would later be announced as official for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 so we’ll have to stay tuned to find out how MJF gets cajoled into appearing.

Elsewhere on tonight’s AEW Dynamite, more matches for Forbidden Door were announced.

Earlier in the show, SANADA appeared to issue an open challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Later in the show, Jungle Boy Jack Perry accepted the challenge and will face off against SANADA for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Also, Zack Sabre Jr. popped by to respond to Orange Cassidy having mentioned him at the post-Double or Nothing media scrum as a potential Forbidden Door opponent.

However, when Daniel Garcia came up to interrupt and noted he wanted a match with one of Cassidy’s pals, instead a big match was announced for next week on AEW Dynamite.

It will be Orange Cassidy teaming with ROH PURE Champion Katsuyori Shibata to take on ZSJ and Daniel Garcia.

It seems like Forbidden Door will then see that match split up into two singles matches – Cassidy vs ZSJ and Garcia vs Shibata.

This is all of course in addition to two already announced major matches between Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada, and Will Ospreay vs Kenny Omega.
