Professional wrestling fans rejoice, because after countless years of asking and hoping, New Japan Pro Wrestling and TV Ashai – the channel which airs NJPW in Japan – have struck a deal with WrestlingStore.co.uk to distribute the promotion’s DVD output for all territories – in the English language – including the United Kingdom.

Previously it had been expensive and awkward to secure a copy of New Japan events on disc, especially in English. Although this changed with the implementation of the New Japan World subscription service, it means we will now be able to get our hands on physical copies of events from the past and present.
The partnership begins with a special two disc release (available for pre-order) as noted in the press statement:

Witness New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest stars, ‘The Rainmaker’ Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito, and the ‘Ace of New Japan’ Hiroshi Tanahashi along with some of the notable past and future stars of NJPW such as ‘The Phenomenal’ AJ Styles, the leader and originator of the Bullet Club ‘The Real Rock N’ Rolla’ Prince Devitt, ‘King of Strong Style’ Shinsuke Nakamura, Kota Ibushi, The Young Bucks, and Kushida in this epic double disc set.
The DVD runtime is nearly four and half hours with just about every match shown in its entirety. The news generates competition for WWE and their European distributor Freemantle Media, but a little opposition never hurt anyone.

The DVD will be released on April 2 and can be pre-ordered here for £19.99. If ordered before March 31, you will be automatically entered into a draw to receive a limited edition artwork print signed by Tetsuya Naito.
