Nia Jax On Her Famous Wrestling Family, Shoots On Shane McMahon Release

In her first post-WWE interview, Lina Fanene (formerly known as Nia Jax) didn’t hold back when spilling the tea about her time with WWE including whether or not it helped her to be related to some of the biggest names in the wrestling industry.

Now she’s taken to Twitter to double down on her denial that being a member of a famous wrestling family creates guaranteed job security by referencing the recently released Shane McMahon.

Fanene writing on her Twitter after reports of McMahon’s release surfaced online:

In speaking to The Sessions with Renee Paquette podcast. Fanene shared that being related to the famed Anoa’i wrestling family which includes The Rock, Rikishi, The Usos and Roman Reigns wasn’t as beneficial as speculation suggested, saying:

“I mean it was like ‘oh she’s not going to lose her job because she’s related to Rock’… and it’s funny because it’s so far from the truth like it’s so far from the truth… whatever family members they thought supported me, were opposite. Did not have my back, trust me did not have any support with me in this business for a long time…

“It sucks because you’re family and it is what it is but I actually didn’t mind it too much because I thought I was creating something of my own. “

Fanene described wanting to make her own footprint in the industry and initially telling no one that she was even related to the family although after she was involved in a car accident while riding with her aunt, Ata Johnson (The Rock’s Mom) her secret was out although it had been privately ferreted out by Becky Lynch earlier.

Elsewhere in the interview, Lina also discussed the backstage reaction to the incident which saw her inadvertently injure Becky Lynch and recently turning down an offer to perhaps appear at the Royal Rumble.
