WWE Star Officially Pulled From Championship Match NJPW

With Karl Anderson scheduled to appear at WWE Crown Jewel on November 5, 2022, NJPW has addressed how this affects Battle Autumn.

Scheduled to take place on the same day as Crown Jewel, Anderson was supposed to face Hikuleo in a match that had been announced before Anderson and Luke Gallows made their WWE return on the October 10 edition of Raw.

Despite attempts to come to an arrangement, NJPW have posted a statement about the NEVER Openweight Championship match that would have taken place at Battle Autumn.

The statement reads:

“Despite extensive efforts by New Japan Pro-Wrestling to negotiate with Karl Anderson regarding his scheduled match in Osaka at Battle Autumn on November 5, NJPW officials have still been met with no response, and have been left with no other option but to cancel the planned NEVER Openweight Championship match.

“We apologise to fans who had been looking forward to watching Anderson wrestle.

“After a challenge from Yujiro Takahashi, and at the direct request of Hikuleo, Osaka will now see a non-title special singles match between Yujiro Takahashi and Hikuleo.

“NJPW holds its champions to the highest standard of professionalism. We deeply apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by this matter.”

This may not be the last that we see of Karl Anderson in a New Japan ring if reports are to be believed. It’s worth noting that Anderson has not been stripped of the NEVER Openweight Championship.
