NJPW star Satoshi Kojima has opened up about his upcoming match against CM Punk at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door.
On Wednesday’s (June 21) edition of Dynamite, it was confirmed that Punk will face off against the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion on the June 25 crossover pay-per-view, in the first round of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.
Following the match announcement, Kojima took to Twitter to ask if this was real, and thanked AEW and NJPW for making the match.
Kojima has now shared another personal message, admitting that he’s ‘very nervous’ for the bout.
Noting that facing Punk will be a highlight of his storied career, Kojima tweeted:
I am very nervous now.
Of course. Because I am not world famous.
It’s an honor to fight a world-famous wrestler.
It is my pleasure to represent my 32 year career.

It was previously reported that there were initially plans for Punk to face KENTA, the originator of the GTS, however plans for this bout were scrapped ahead of last week’s Collision premiere.
