NXT Star Appearance On WWE SmackDown You May Have Missed WWE

On tonight’s WWE SmackDown, an NXT star has made an appearance and is likely to remain on-screen throughout the night.

The opening segment of WWE SmackDown featured an in-ring promo segment with first Paul Heyman who was then joined by LA Knight.

However before the first match of the night got underway between Montez Ford and Santos Escobar, an NXT star appeared in the role of ring announcer.

NXT ring announcer Alicia Taylor is on microphone duty for WWE SmackDown tonight in place of Mike Rome, already having done the introduction honors and called the victory for Montez Ford over Escobar without incident.

There’s no word yet on the reason for Taylor replacing Rome tonight but we’ll keep you updated if any news emerges.

Taylor has stood in on one-off occasions for main roster ring announcers multiple times in the past.

The opening segment could also be described as occurring without incident however, with strong words from both parties.

With Paul Heyman in the ring, he discussed that the LA Times had revealed earlier that Roman Reigns would defend his title at Crown Jewel against LA Knight.

However when LA Knight appeared and confronted Paul Heyman, Heyman was persistent in his attempts to leave the ring but Knight continued to take him to task.

In the segment, Knight noted that there was a contract signing scheduled for SmackDown next week with Reigns present to make their title match at WWE Crown Jewel official.
